BADI in Script Logic

Hi,

Can anyone explain how the following will work.

*START_BADI XXXXXX

Query=Off

Write=Off

<key1> = <value1>

<key2> = <value2>

*END_BADI

in the above script what is the purpose of <key1> = <value1>;

Tried to find documents but nothing was useful.
