Cross tab exports blank rows and merged cells

Hi All,

I have created a cross tab report as seen in the screenshot below:

However, when i export this report into an Excel 2003 format, i see a lot of columns that are blank and a few merged cells as well.

I tried to follow the steps from a previous post in below link which states to use cross tabs for better export to excel but i still keep getting the same issue.
